Q15Advanced Enterprise Campus Networks

A company needs to expand access-port capacity on one floor of a building. It wants to leverage the existing Catalyst access switch. Uplink bandwidth capacity is not a concern. However, no additional uplinks can be added because no ports are available on the distribution switches. Which solution must the company choose to provide additional access ports?

The question is referring to access switches though, not distribution switches. Both solutions could work, but VSS requires existing interfaces to be available on the switch, and the question says the access switch ports have already been exhausted.

Selected Answer: D D. Stackwise The company should pick Cisco StackWise technology to provide extra access ports. StackWise lets multiple Cisco Catalyst switches be interconnected, forming a single logical switch with more port capacity. This solution helps expand the access layer without needing additional uplinks to the distribution switches. StackWise technology simplifies management and improves the resiliency of the network.

D stackwise seems like the right answer

no additional ports can be added -- same floor-- STackwise

Selected Answer: B Could be VSS or Stackwise depending on the question. The question wording is awful. Since more ports are needed at the distribution layer, I'd say the answer is VSS, as Stackwise is an access-layer technology and not typically used on distribution switches.

*Existing, not exiting. My vote is stackwise, answer D.

Selected Answer: D Catalyst Switch - Stackwise

Selected Answer: D For those asking why not VSS: we are told that there are no ports left on access switches. VSS is meant for core/distribution switches. Stackwise is for access switches. Even if now "Stackwise Virtual" is the replacement for VSS technology 🙃
