Q12Network Access

SIMULATION Guidelines This lab item requires tasks to be completed on virtual devices. - Refer to the Tasks tab to see the tasks for this lab item. - Refer to the Topology tab to access the device console(s) and carry out the tasks. - Console access is available for every required device by selecting its device icon or using the tab(s) above the console window. - All required preconfigurations have already been applied. - Do not modify the enable password or hostname on any device. - Save configurations to NVRAM before proceeding to the next item. - Select Next at the bottom of the screen to submit this lab and continue to the next question. - After Next is selected, the lab closes and cannot be reopened. Topology Tasks R1 and R2 are already configured with all required commands. All physical cabling is installed and verified. PC1 and PC2 connectivity to the switches must be established; each port may permit only one VLAN and must be operational. 1. Configure SW-1 with VLAN 15 and name it exactly `OPS`. 2. Configure SW-2 with VLAN 66 and name it exactly `ENGINEERING`. 3. Configure the switch port connected to PC1. 4. Configure the switch port connected to PC2. 5. Configure the E0/2 links on SW-1 and SW-2 for neighbor discovery using the vendor-neutral standard protocol, and ensure E0/0 on both switches uses the Cisco proprietary protocol. <AnswerReveal answer={" "} explanation={"VLAN 15/OPS and VLAN 66/ENGINEERING must exist before their PC-facing access ports can be assigned. E0/1 on SW-1 belongs to access VLAN 15 and E0/1 on SW-2 belongs to access VLAN 66; `switchport mode access` restricts each port to one VLAN, and `no shutdown` makes the port operational. LLDP is the vendor-neutral neighbor-discovery protocol and must be enabled globally; E0/2 can use LLDP. CDP is Cisco proprietary, so LLDP transmit and receive must be disabled on E0/0 and CDP enabled there. Saving the running configuration copies it to NVRAM for persistence."} />

CDP is enabled by default on switches and routers. CDP is enabled globally on all interfaces by default, which means we don't need to use the "cdp enable" command to enable it on the interface. LLDP is disabled by default on all interfaces. The "lldp run" command enables LLDP, but it doesn't mean we have to manually enable it on each interface with "lldp transmit" and "lldp receive" commands.

As I understand the question:- SW-1(config)# vlan 15 SW-1(config-vlan)# name OPS SW-1(config)# interface ethernet 0/1 SW-1(config-if)# switchport mode access SW-1(config-if)# switchport access vlan 15 SW-1(config-if)# no shutdown SW-2(config)# vlan 66 SW-2(config-vlan)# name ENGINEERING SW-2(config)# interface ethernet 0/1 SW-2(config-if)# switchport mode access SW-2(config-if)# switchport access vlan 66 SW-2(config-if)# no shutdown SW-1(config)# interface ethernet 0/2 SW-1(config-if)# lldp transmit SW-1(config-if)# lldp receive SW-1(config-if)# no shutdown SW-1(config)# interface ethernet 0/0 SW-1(config-if)# cdp enable SW-1(config-if)# no shutdown SW-2(config)# interface ethernet 0/2 SW-2(config-if)# lldp transmit SW-2(config-if)# lldp receive SW-2(config-if)# no shutdown SW-2(config)# interface ethernet 0/0 SW-2(config-if)# cdp enable SW-2(config-if)# no shutdown

The given answers are correct; no objections. The question is a little ambiguous about whether CDP has to be disabled on the LLDP interfaces and vice versa. If not, technically just issuing "lldp run" on both switches is enough to complete the task, since CPD will be running by default. Better to be safe though.

I have seen ppl say 3-4 on reddit

The solution is well explained!

Guys, I know trunk mode isn't needed, since it is not part of any of the tasks. ----------------SW-1-------------- Task1 vlan 15 name OPS Task3 interface etherne0/1 switchport mode access switchport access lan 15 Task 5 on SW1 & SW2: lldp run interface ethernet 0/2 lldp transmit lldp receive no cdp enable cdp run interface ethernet 0/0 cdp enable no lldp transmit no lldp receive exit wr -------------SW-2------------------ Task2 vlan 66 name ENGINEERING Task 4 interface etherne0/1 switchport mode access switchport access lan 66 Task 5 on SW1 & SW2: lldp run interface ethernet 0/2 lldp transmit lldp receive no cdp enable cdp run interface ethernet 0/0 cdp enable no lldp transmit no lldp receive exit wr

How many Simulations should one expect on their test?

I believe that when task 5 says use cisco proprietary, it is referring to CDP and not trunking isl
2
LLDP should be configured inside interface ethernet 0/2

Correct

Shouldn't we use the no cdp enable command on the interfaces toward the routers since Cisco is asking to enable LLDP for those interfaces?
