Drag and drop the characteristic on the left to the corresponding cable type on the right. <DragDrop items={["uses a single wavelength on light","becomes distorted at longer lengths","is typically used for internal datacenter connectivity","has minimal light reflection as it travels down the core"]} slots={[{"answer":"is typically used for internal datacenter connectivity","id":"slot1","group":"multimode fiber"},{"answer":"becomes distorted at longer lengths","id":"slot2","group":"multimode fiber"},{"answer":"uses a single wavelength on light","id":"slot3","group":"single-mode fiber"},{"answer":"has minimal light reflection as it travels down the core","id":"slot4","group":"single-mode fiber"}]} explanation={"Multimode fiber supports multiple light paths, so modal dispersion increases with distance; this makes it better suited for short runs such as internal datacenter links and more prone to distortion over longer lengths. Single-mode fiber carries a single light mode/path, which greatly reduces dispersion and internal reflection effects, making it the better match for a single wavelength/path description and minimal light reflection as the signal travels through the core.\n\n**Learn more:** [Fiber Optics Part 2: Single-Mode Fiber vs. Multi-Mode Fiber (Cisco Blogs)](https://blogs.cisco.com/sp/fiberopticspt2singlemultifiber)"} reuse={false} />

answer is correct a single mode goes farther because its one light and doesn't get reflected or distorted while with multimode while cheaper with the extra lights after a certain range can get weaker
